Dominique Geddes’ home, Cwmrhys Cottage, is a restoration rooted in a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, natural materials and a slower pace of living. She has approached each space with care, allowing the house to guide the design as it evolves.

Her bathroom reflects that philosophy. Designed to feel timeless and enduring, it draws on the tones and textures of the surrounding Welsh countryside, creating a space that is both practical and quietly restorative.

For Dominique, living in the property was key to understanding how the space needed to function. The original bathroom’s lack of storage quickly became apparent, shaping the brief for a solution that balanced practicality with beauty. A handmade oak vanity unit, The Wytham, provides the answer, introducing both essential storage and a sense of warmth and permanence to the room. Its natural finish ensures it will remain relevant as the space evolves, allowing flexibility without compromising on character.

A palette of stone, oak and brass runs throughout the space, echoing the natural environment beyond the cottage. The Delaunay RossaStone bateau bath introduces a sculptural presence, offering a place to pause and unwind. Alongside it, a Foss walk-in shower with reeded glass provides a softer, textured contrast while maintaining openness.

Traditional-style polished brass brassware and accessories bring a sense of heritage. Designed to develop a natural patina over time, they will continue to evolve with the space. Underfoot and within the shower, marble tiles, including a classic checkerboard detail add quiet refinement, while tongue and groove panelling reinforces the cottage’s architectural character.
